Knitterbug Shawl
The Knitterbug Shawl is a delightful and straightforward knitting pattern that incorporates essential knitting techniques, making it perfect for both beginners and seasoned knitters alike. This pattern features a harmonious blend of garter stitch, yarn-over increases, eyelets, and an elegant I-cord edging, all of which contribute to its beautiful design. If you're already familiar with these knitting elements, you'll breeze through this pattern in no time! However, if you're new to any of these techniques, don’t worry—you'll find clear instructions that will guide you through learning these fundamental stitches, resulting in a lovely, functional shawl or scarf you can proudly wear or gift.
For this project, I dug deep into my yarn stash and pulled out Queensland Haze, a lovely corn viscose/cotton variegated yarn in DK/Light Worsted weight. I discovered this yarn during a closeout sale years ago, and it has become a favorite ever since. While I recommend using a variegated yarn from your own stash for added visual interest, any yarn will work beautifully for this pattern. Be sure to select the appropriate needle size according to your yarn weight to achieve the best results. The finished size of your shawl is entirely customizable, allowing you to create a piece that fits your personal style and needs.
Exciting news! I’ve added a second option to the pattern that includes a contrasting color eyelet row, which adds a fresh twist to the classic design. Check out the new instructions for using a Main Color (MC) and Contrasting Color (CC) below.
This Knitterbug Shawl pattern not only allows you to experiment with colors but also enables you to practice important knitting techniques. Whether you're following the original design or trying out the new contrasting color option, this pattern promises a rewarding and enjoyable knitting experience. So gather your favorite yarn, grab your needles, and let’s get started on creating a stunning shawl that you’ll cherish for years to come!
