Kristi's Comfort Wrap or Lap Blanket

Sometimes, we all crave the warmth of a hug from someone special, especially when they're not nearby. When you can't deliver your love in person, creating and sending a soft, thoughtful gift can bridge that gap beautifully. I designed this unique knitting pattern specifically for my dear friend Kristi, and I'm excited to share it with you!

This pattern features one primary yarn that runs throughout the project, which is complemented by alternating thinner yarns to infuse your creation with vibrant colors and added softness. It's a delightful combination that not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a fluffy, cozy texture that your loved ones will adore.

Gauge: This knitting pattern is wonderfully forgiving. More relaxed knitters may find that they use more yarn per row but require fewer rows overall, ultimately consuming the same amount of yarn. Two test knitters, who worked at contrasting gauges, produced remarkably similar fabric results. Both of their wraps measured 15" (37cm) wide and approximately 51" (127cm) long, not including fringe. If you're crafting lap blankets, you can expect the same length, but with a wider width of about 22" (56cm).

Needle Size: You'll need one size 15 US (10mm) circular needle, with a minimum cable length of 24" (60cm). However, a longer cable—preferably over 30" (75cm)—is recommended for ease of use. Relaxed knitters might also consider downgrading to a size US 13 (9mm) needle if they prefer a slightly tighter knit.

Yarn: For this beautiful pattern, you will need the following yarn amounts:

• • 2 to 3 balls of Nashua Creative Focus, which is a luxurious blend of 75% wool and 25% alpaca worsted yarn, with each ball measuring 220 yards.
