Lightweight raspberry beret
Discover the perfect accessory for every season with this lightweight and stylish knitted hat pattern! Designed to be an essential addition to your wardrobe, this easy-to-knit hat is a must-have in a variety of colors. Crafted in fingering weight yarn, it’s an ideal way to showcase those stunning skeins of sock yarn or laceweight that you just can’t resist. The flattering bit of slouch adds a trendy touch, making it suitable for both casual outings and more sophisticated looks.
You can create this versatile hat using a single yarn for a cohesive look or mix and match for a unique spin! Pair a contrasting yarn for the ribbing with a complementary color for the rest of the hat for an eye-catching accessory. In my own version, I used Koigu KPPPM for the ribbing, complemented by a doubled laceweight yarn for the body, resulting in a beautiful, textured finish that's sure to turn heads.
SIZES Available: The hat fits a range of sizes to accommodate everyone – Baby (Child’s S, Child’s M){Child’s L / Women’s S, Women’s M, Women’s L}. The brim circumference measures 16 (17, 18){19, 20, 21} inches / 40.5 [43, 46][48, 51, 53] cm, ensuring a comfortable fit for every wearer.
MATERIALS Needed: For this project, you'll need fingering weight yarn, with approximately 180-215 yards / 165-195 m in a 1.75 oz / 50g skein. To complete the hat, the total yardage required is 150 (165, 195){210, 235, 260} yards / 136 (150, 178){190, 213, 236} m. If you decide to use two different yarns for your creation, allocate 15% of the total yardage for the ribbing and the remaining 85% for the body of the hat.
This beautiful hat is shown in Koigu KPPPM for the ribbing (35 yards / 32m) and Skaska Designs merino/silk laceweight, held double (390 yards / 354m) for the body. The sample displayed is in size Women’s M, showcasing how this pattern can translate beautifully across different styles and sizes.
