Lily Mittens - knitting pattern

Lily Mittens

$5.26

These stunning Lily Mittens were originally featured in Issue #45 of Knit Now Magazine, showcasing a unique blend of traditional Norwegian motifs and modern design elements. In this pattern, I experimented by breaking up a classic Norwegian design and creatively repositioning it across the back of the mittens. The result is a beautiful and intricate pair of mittens that are not only warm but also stylishly fancy.

Yarn: For this project, I recommend using Cygnet Truly Wool Rich, which is a premium fingering weight yarn with a delightful composition of 75% Pure New Superwash Wool and 25% Polyamide. Each 50g ball provides 205 meters of yarn, making it perfect for this pattern. You'll need just 1 ball in Geranium (Main Color) and 1 ball in Cream (Contrast Color) to complete your mittens.

Needles: The pattern calls for 2mm (US 0) needles, which are ideal for achieving the fine gauge necessary for intricate stranded colorwork.

Notions: You will also need a yarn needle for weaving in ends, 2 stitch markers to help keep track of your stitches, and some waste yarn for any provisional techniques you may wish to use.

Gauge: Achieve the perfect fit by matching the gauge: In stranded colorwork stockinette, aim for 44 stitches and 44 rounds over a 10cm (4”) square.

If you're considering yarn alternatives, a fantastic substitute can be found at LoveKnitting, particularly the Artesano Definition Sock Yarn. Just one of either yarn brands listed will suffice to complete your lovely Lily Mittens.

Embark on your knitting adventure with these exquisite Lily Mittens and enjoy the satisfaction of creating a beautiful accessory that showcases your knitting skills and adds a pop of color to your winter wardrobe!
