If you're on the hunt for a vibrant and captivating afghan pattern that showcases the beautiful long color runs of Noro Kureyon, look no further! This delightful block pattern is inspired by Barbara G. Walker’s iconic Short-Row Stripes square from her book, *Learn to Knit Afghan*. Originally intended as a special gift for my daughter to take to college—who just happens to be a fellow knitter fond of Kureyon—it ultimately turned into a surprise birthday present for her 15th! This project not only celebrates colors but also mother-daughter bonding through crafting.

Version 1 – Multicolored Squares:

  • Noro Kureyon; 1 skein per square (for a total of 24 squares, I utilized 21 skeins, creatively making 3 additional squares with leftover yarn)
  • Yarn for seaming (I chose navy Cascade 220 as Kureyon tends to fray when used for seaming)

Version 2 – Knit in One Piece:

  • Noro Kureyon; 20 skeins are recommended for a stunning and cohesive design

Both versions require less than one skein of Cascade 220 for a delightful crocheted shell edging, adding a professional finish to your masterpiece. This pattern is perfect for knitters of all skill levels who want to explore the joys of using vibrant colors and create something both functional and beautiful.
