Love Grows blanket
My niece and her fiancé have a beautiful love story, having dated for a long time and knowing each other even longer. Their love has grown slowly but surely, and now they are preparing to tie the knot! In celebration of their upcoming marriage, I created a unique and thoughtful knitted blanket for them.
This special blanket features lace eyelet hearts that gradually increase in size as the blanket gets larger, symbolizing the growth of their love over time. To add an extra layer of meaning, I incorporated cabled “spokes” between the hearts, representing the intertwining of their lives and destinies. Each stitch is designed to celebrate their journey together.
Despite its generous size, this blanket knits up quite quickly, thanks to the use of US#11 knitting needles and a bulky, cotton yarn. For the sample, I used 13 skeins of Knit Picks Billow yarn in a lovely natural shade. If you prefer a different texture, this pattern is versatile enough to be made with a bulky wool or cozy alpaca yarn, but just be sure to choose a light and airy fiber. Using a heavier yarn could make the blanket cumbersome to knit!
The directions for this beauty are available in both charted and written formats, ensuring that knitters of all skill levels can enjoy this project. It’s a perfect gift for weddings, anniversaries, or any special occasion where you want to celebrate love. With this lovingly crafted blanket, you can create not just a cozy accessory, but a treasured keepsake that symbolizes the heartfelt journey of a couple in love.
