Lunate

$6.00

Introducing 'Lunate', a stunning crescent-shaped shawlette designed with delightful lace accents and a soft stockinette ground. The name 'Lunate' captures its beautiful moon-shaped silhouette, making it a perfect accessory for any season.

This enchanting shawlette features lace columns that have a unique, slightly twisted, textured appearance, achieved by reversing the usual direction of decreases. This creates a gentle, flowing pattern that mimics the moon's phases, adding a touch of elegance to your knitting collection.

Designed with beginner lace knitters in mind, this pattern requires essential skills, including the garter tab cast-on, basic knit and purl stitches, as well as simple lace techniques such as yarn-overs and k2tog & ssk decreases. The instructions are clearly written and not charted, ensuring an accessible experience for all crafters. Each second row serves as a purled 'rest' row, making it easy to maintain your rhythm and enjoy the process of creation.

Materials Required: You will need 410 yards / 375 metres of fingering-weight yarn. For this project, I personally used one skein of Vintage Purls Sock, comprised of 75% merino and 25% nylon (420yds/384m per 100g skein), in the stunning hue 'Jaune D’Antimoine'. When selecting your yarn, opt for a material with excellent drape in a solid or semi-solid colour. Alternatively, a variegated or speckle-dyed yarn would beautifully complement Lunate’s simple lace and stockinette design.

Remember, the Lunate pattern is for personal use only, allowing you to create a beautiful shawlette to enjoy or gift to a loved one.
