Marakoopa
*The name Marakoopa is inspired by one of my favorite places in Tasmania – Mole Creek. I have fond memories of this enchanting location, having visited it twice as a child with my Mum and again in my late 20s with my husband. During our trips, we camped alongside a picturesque, babbling creek, searched for elusive platypus, and explored the fascinating caves. One of these caves, named Marakoopa, derives its name from the Aboriginal language of the area, meaning 'handsome.' This connection to nature and beauty is reflected in the Marakoopa sweater.
This stunning sweater is expertly knit using scrumptious yarn sourced from Tasmania, specifically White Gum Wool, known for its luxurious texture and warmth. The pattern employs short rows to shape both the back neck and bottom hem, providing an elegant fit. Knit from the top-down, starting with the neck band, this design features subtle waist shaping and showcases two contrasting colors that add a vibrant touch. With its vertical construction and minimal finishing required, the Marakoopa sweater is not only a joy to create but is also destined to become a beloved wardrobe staple. Perfect for chilly evenings and cozy gatherings, this sweater exemplifies versatility and style in your knitting collection. Make the Marakoopa sweater your next project and enjoy the journey of crafting a piece that is both beautiful and practical!
