Maritza Vest
PATTERN NOTES
The Maritza Vest is a delightful sleeveless top, perfect for layering or wearing solo during the warmer months. Featuring elegant lace detailing at the bottom hem and along the shaped front neck, this vest combines style and comfort seamlessly. The body of the vest is worked in the round up to the underarms, providing a smooth and continuous finish. Once you reach the underarms, the front and back sections are then worked flat separately until you reach the shoulders. The shoulders are joined together using a 3-needle cast-off technique, ensuring durability and a polished look. To finish, armhole edgings are picked up and worked in the round using a garter stitch that adds texture and depth to your garment.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
For this stunning Maritza Vest, you will need Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend Fino yarn, which is made of 70% Extrafine Merino wool and 30% silk, giving it a luxurious feel and drape. Each skein contains 450 meters (or 490 yards) per 100 grams. You will require a total of 2 (2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins, depending on your chosen size. The sample is shown in the beautiful shade FI404 Watered Silk (size M).
You'll also need a 3mm (US #2-3) circular needle, ideally between 80-120 cm long, along with a set of 3mm (US #2-3) DPNs or an additional circular needle, 40 cm long, for smaller circumferences. Be sure to have stitch markers on hand to keep track of your progress, as well as stitch holders or waste yarn to secure your work at various stages. Lastly, a tapestry needle will be essential for weaving in ends and ensuring a tidy finish.
