With roots in Japanese culture, thanks to my Grandfather's time stationed in Japan with the Navy during my mother's childhood, I have wonderful memories of being surrounded by vibrant Japanese children’s storybooks, mouthwatering food, and captivating artwork including paintings, sculptures, pottery, and textiles. This rich cultural tapestry greatly influenced my design choices. It’s no wonder that my first knitting pattern pays homage to the lovely and familiar elements of Japanese culture, which I grew up valuing and adoring.
