Meshing Up The Grid
Introducing a beautifully designed and easy-to-knit shawl that’s perfect for knitters of all skill levels! This shawl features charming garter stitch grid lines that are checkered with mirrored openwork mesh squares, creating a stunning textured effect. To add a touch of personality, consider incorporating a sassy little tassel at the edge. For an extra touch of glamour, you can also add a few sparkling beads to highlight the airy plaid design, or opt to keep it simple for a more classic look. This project is an ideal way to utilize that one special skein hiding away in your yarn stash.
Note: The sample shawl was expertly knit using elann Pure Intonation 4-Ply, consuming every last inch of the 100g (400m/437 yd) skein. For best results, it is highly suggested to insert a safety line before beginning the final pattern repeat, especially since these smaller dimensions represent stopping one repeat earlier, resulting in a finished shawl that measures approximately 50" wide x 25" long.
Gauge: One 9-stitch x 18-row repeat equals a blocked dimension of 6.3cm (2.5”) square. Make sure to check your gauge to ensure your shawl turns out just right!
This knitting pattern is not only a delightful project but also a fantastic way to enhance your skills while creating a piece that is both functional and fashionable. Whether you are looking to gift this shawl or keep it for yourself, it’s a marvelous addition to any wardrobe.
