When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. And when life gives you 6 feet of snow in just 14 days, why not make a cozy hat to keep warm? This delightful knitting project brought me immense joy as I crafted it in between shoveling snow. It’s a quick and easy pattern, perfect for those snowy days, allowing you to enjoy a finished hat by the very next day’s outdoor adventures in the winter wonderland!
The hat is featured in Julie Asselin's Ankara Bulky yarn, showcasing the stunning Tahiti colorway. I instantly fell in love with how the subtle pale pink and lavender highlights beautifully contrast with the icy blue background. This luxurious blend of 85% merino wool and 15% mohair creates a super soft and incredibly smooshy skein that’s a delight to knit with!
Staying true to the winter theme, I incorporated Barbara Walker's Snowflake Lace pattern—it's just detailed enough to stand out against the bulky yarn, adding an elegant touch to the design. The combination of this lacework with a deep brim and simple crown shaping means you can knit this hat comfortably by the fire in just about 2 hours. The stretchy nature of the lace allows it to fit a range of sizes, so whether it's made for my 11-year-old, my teenager, or myself, everyone can enjoy the warmth and style it offers!
We also provide alternative yarn suggestions to keep your creativity flowing, but always remember to check your gauge for the best fitting results. This hat is not just a project; it’s a form of wearable art that will keep you cozy through even the coldest of winter days. Stay warm and stylish with this lovely knitting pattern!
