MOMIJI Shawl — Inspired by the beautiful shape of a maple leaf, the Momiji Shawl is a delightful and versatile accessory for any knitting enthusiast. The term “Momiji” means maple leaf in Japanese, perfectly capturing the aesthetic of this elegant shawl design.

This stunning shawl is worked flat using two contrasting colours to create eye-catching chevron stripes. One of its standout features is its size adjustability, allowing you to customize the shawl according to your preferred yarn type and weight.

SIZE (Adjustable)

The dimensions of my sample shawl are as follows: Width (widest point) is 130 cm (51 inches) and Length (longest point) is 78 cm (31 inches). Feel free to adjust the size to suit your style and needs!

MATERIALS

For this pattern, I used the following yarn:

  • Main Colour (MC): 1 skein of Malabrigo Lace (430m / 470yds per 50g) in Colour Zinc
  • Contrasting Colour (CC): 1 skein of Malabrigo Lace (430m / 470yds per 50g) in Colour Emerald

Since the size is adjustable, you have the freedom to explore different color combinations and yarn weights. I am excited to see the beautiful results when knitters use various yarns and shades to create their own unique Momiji Shawl.

NEEDLE SIZE: Use a 2.5 mm (US size 11 ½) circular needle.

GAUGE: 22 stitches × 36 rows = 10 cm in stockinette stitch; 22 stitches × 38 rows = 10 cm in garter stitch.

NOTIONS: Make sure to have stitch markers and a tapestry needle on hand for easy assembly and finishing.
