Monkey Tanoshi series
**Cute Monkey Doll Knitting Pattern – Tanoshi Series**
Celebrate the Chinese New Year with this delightful **Monkey Doll** from the Tanoshi series! Designed as the charming symbol for the year of the monkey in 2016, this knitting pattern offers you the chance to create a wonderfully huggable toy with a removable hood. The finished monkey doll measures approximately **4.33 inches (11 cm)** tall, making it the perfect size for little hands or for display on a shelf.
**Materials Needed for the Monkey Doll**:
- **4 double-pointed needles**: Select a size suitable for your yarn weight. For a firm and sturdy fabric, it’s recommended to use needles one or two sizes smaller than what the yarn label suggests. I personally used **US size 2½ (3mm)** needles for this project.
- **Yarn**:
– **Cream colored yarn** for the head: I used **Nako Baby Ho?geldin**, a blend of 60% bamboo and 40% polyamide; **100g – 230 m**.
– **Brown and light green yarn** for the body: Again, I chose **Nako Baby Ho?geldin** with the same composition and yardage.
– **Dark brown yarn** for the hair.
- **Toy stuffing** for a cuddly finish.
- **Yarn needle** for sewing parts together.
- **Stitch holder** to assist with tricky sections.
- **2 plastic eyes (5mm)** to give your monkey a playful expression.
- A **flower button** to add a charming detail to the design.
When knitting this adorable monkey, I always work in the round to ensure there are no unsightly seams.
