Construction: The Moonstone Hat is expertly knit from the bottom up, beginning with a stylish twisted rib hem. The body of the hat features captivating stranded colorwork, which then transitions into decrease rows at the crown for a beautifully finished look.
Note: A pom pom is optional to add an extra touch of flair; however, specific instructions for creating one are not included with this pattern.
Needles Required: To create your Moonstone Hat, you'll need a 4 mm/US Size 6 circular needle (we recommend a 40 cm length) as well as a 5 mm/US Size 8 circular needle (also recommended at 40 cm length) to ensure a snug fit.
Notions Needed: Be sure to gather a few essential notions, including stitch markers to keep your place in the pattern and a tapestry needle for weaving in those pesky ends once you're finished.
Yarn Requirements: This modern and stylish hat is designed for bulky weight/12 ply yarn. You will need approximately 65 yards of Color 1 for the bottom of the hat and around 60 yards of Color 2 for the top. For a beautiful finished piece, we've used Ashford Tekapo 12 ply in the lovely shades of Moonstone and Natural Light for this project.
Finished Size: The delightful Moonstone Hat measures approximately 9 inches in height and boasts a circumference of 20 inches at its widest point, making it a versatile accessory suitable for a variety of head sizes.
