MOUNTAIN GORILLA toy knitting pattern by Georgina Manvell
Introducing the charming Mr. Mountain Gorilla, a delightful knitting pattern that stands 23cm (9 inches) tall once completed using DK yarn. This adorable gorilla features a functional opening and closing mouth, adding to his unique charm and playfulness!
This beloved pattern first made its debut in the April 1992 issue of Home & Country magazine (WI), as part of an engaging article titled "Knit on the Wild Side" focusing on endangered species. We are excited to share a nostalgic picture from the original Home & Country magazine, showcasing this lovely creation.
Recognizing the enduring appeal of the Mountain Gorilla, we felt it was time for a fresh update. So, we captured a brand-new photograph of the original gorilla in Georgina's creative space. Just look at how fantastic he still appears! This current pattern is identical to the one featured in Home & Country magazine, with the sole exception of the adorable baby gorilla that was included in the original publication. Both the talented designer and I (Suzannah) have collaborated to give it a modern touch with a new updated picture and refreshed format. Together, Georgina and I now work as co-designers under our business name, The Old Toy Knitting Shop, sharing our love for knitting and whimsical designs.
If you're looking to add a touch of wildlife to your knitting collection, this Mountain Gorilla pattern is perfect for any knitting enthusiast. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced knitter, you'll find joy in creating this adorable masterpiece. Grab your yarn and needles, and let’s bring this enchanting creature to life!
