Mustachios
Every Autumn, the men in our town eagerly prepare for the annual Whiskerino Challenge, where clean-shaven faces are judged, and by spring, the finest beards will compete for the title of champion. My barely teenage sons, with their aspirations of facial hair glory, think they might stand a chance. However, since they can't grow beards just yet, I decided to craft them something special: Mustachios for their feet!
This initiative isn’t just fun – it's part of "Movember," a mustache-growing movement that takes place every November to raise awareness for important men’s health issues. With each stitch, we’re reminded of a brave young man, Sean Trank, who has been profoundly affected by cancer. On his 28th birthday, Sean received the devastating news that he has Stage 3b Lung Cancer, which is currently inoperable. All proceeds from the sale of our Mustachios and Cookie Dusters will support Sean Trank vs Lung Cancer, an initiative aimed at providing help and raising awareness for lung cancer research. The Mustachios knitting pattern is designed for men’s shoe sizes 10-12. If you wish to create a smaller version, simply go down a needle size. Additionally, the pattern can easily be adapted for women’s sizes, specifically size 7 (37 UK), by using light fingering yarn. These fun and quirky Mustachios make great gifts or conversation starters and are perfect for those who want to support a great cause while enjoying a clever twist on crochet!
