### Art Deco-Inspired Top-Down Triangular Shawl Knitting Pattern
Unleash your creativity with this stunning top-down triangular shawl, which draws inspiration from the intricate metalwork found around the door of an Art Deco building in Nantes, France. The enchanting design features elegant gold accents reminiscent of the decorative elements, inviting you to explore various techniques for emphasizing the beautiful pattern. To celebrate its unique design, this pattern is available at a discounted price during my July 2020 Knit-Along (KAL).
**Knitting Gauge and Techniques**
While gauge isn't critical for this project, it is essential that the stockinette sections are solid enough to be easily distinguished from the delicate lace sections. This variation will highlight your craftsmanship and ensure that your finished shawl truly stands out.
**Materials Needed**
For the small lace sample (shown in a lovely purple), you will need 1 skein of Buffalo Wool Company Sexy (lace weight) in the color Royalty (366m/400yds per 50g), along with approximately 700 size 8/0 beads for added highlights.
If you're opting for a larger fingering weight sample (featured in a vibrant teal), gather two 100g skeins of The Rt. Hon. Ronaldsay (~822m/900yds) in the color Persia, plus one skein of Kidsilk Haze (lace weight) in Swish for beautiful color highlights.
**Customizing Your Design**
Feel free to customize your shawl based on your personal preference! While the use of beads or a second color is optional, incorporating these elements can elevate your design to new heights and make it uniquely yours.
**Yarn Requirements**
To complete this project, you will need between 366 and 914 meters (400-1000 yards) of lace or fingering weight yarn. This flexibility allows you to choose your favorite yarn while still achieving the desired look of your shawl.
**Optional Enhancements**
Consider enhancing your project with:
- Between 700 and 1500 beads for extra sparkle, or
- A contrasting lace weight yarn of about 100 meters (109 yards) to add depth and dimension to your design.
Embrace the spirit of Art Deco and craft a beautiful triangular shawl that showcases your knitting skills while adding a unique piece to your wardrobe. Join the community in the July KAL and let’s knit together while we celebrate this beautiful art form!
