Discover the captivating art of blending different yarns with this beautifully designed shawl pattern, perfect for knitters looking to enhance their skills. This shawl features a harmonious combination of fingering and lace weight yarns, creating a striking visual contrast and textural delight. The shawl is worked top down, starting with a garter tab, and utilizes increases on every second row to achieve its elegant shape.

The sturdy body of the shawl is crafted using a fingering yarn, employing a simplified brioche stitch that my mother lovingly taught me years ago. This unique stitch technique gives the shawl a resilient yet soft feel, while the airy border is knit-on sideways using a luxurious lace weight yarn. Notably, the body of the shawl requires no purl stitches, making it feel almost like traditional garter stitch, which is perfect for knitters looking for a smooth knitting experience. To complete the design, the border incorporates short rows, providing a sophisticated finish.

Difficulty Level: Intermediate (skills required include knit, purl, brioche stitch, short rows, and creating a knit-on border).

Yarn Recommendations: For this stunning shawl, the main color is designed using Knit Picks Chroma Fingering, which consists of 70% wool and 30% nylon, offering an impressive 362 meters (396 yards) per 100 grams (3.53 ounces). You will need 2 balls of this lovely yarn. For the contrast color, we recommend Lana Grossa Silkhair, a sumptuous blend of 70% mohair and 30% silk, available in 209 meters (229 yards) per 25 grams (0.88 ounces). You will only need 1 ball of Silkhair for this project. Our sample used 366 meters (400 yards) of Chroma (just a smidge over 1 ball for ample coverage) and 209 meters (229 yards) of Silkhair to bring this shawl to life.
