North American Mom & Cub Bear Hats
Discover the beauty of wildlife with our exclusive bear-themed knitting pattern! Only eight bear species remain in the world, including three iconic species in North America: the BLACK BEAR, BROWN BEAR, and POLAR BEAR. This unique knitting hat pattern also features a special design for the rare and elusive SPIRIT BEAR of British Columbia. You'll receive complete embroidery charts for all four bear species, allowing you to create a stunning piece that celebrates these magnificent animals.
This versatile hat pattern offers four sizes, ranging from "CHILD 3-10 YEARS" to "LARGE/XL ADULT," ensuring that everyone in the family can enjoy this stylish design. The hat is a one or two-color single brim watch cap, and it's knit in the round using a 16" circular needle, complemented with double-pointed needles for the decreases or you can use the Magic Loop technique. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn, with a gauge of 17 stitches = 4 inches (10cm). While we used Red Heart Super Saver for our sample hats, you can opt for any similar weight yarn that suits your style.
The adorable bear designs are created using the duplicate stitch technique, also known as knit embroidery, so some familiarity with this skill is recommended. Whether you're a seasoned knitter or just starting out, you'll find the instructions clear and engaging, making your crafting experience enjoyable.
As an added bonus, we’ve included printable gift tags for each bear species, making this hat a perfect gift for wildlife enthusiasts or knitting aficionados. Dive into your next knitting project and celebrate the magnificent bears of our planet!
