Numberblocks: Four!

Welcome to the Square Club! This is the fourth exciting pattern in my epic Numberblocks knitting series. After successfully creating One, Two, and Three, I invite you to embark on a delightful journey to populate Numberland with the charming character Four. Perfect for both beginners and experienced knitters, this pattern offers a fun and rewarding project that will make a fantastic addition to your collection.

The unique design of Four sets him apart from the other Numberblocks. His base is knitted flat, allowing for an interesting twist in the knitting process. To create Four, you’ll pick up stitches along the selvedge and cast-on edges, transitioning to knitting the rest of his blocks in the round. This innovative approach adds depth to your knitting experience! His adorable eyes and mouth are skillfully added using duplicate stitch before you commence the decrease rounds and work on grafting the top seam shut for a polished finish. The arms and legs of Four are knit separately, allowing for a seamless assembly process at the end of your project.

To bring Four to life, you'll need approximately 80g of light green yarn for his delightful body. Additionally, 20g of dark green yarn is required for crafting his arms and legs, along with scrap amounts of black and white yarn for his charming face. Remember to have stuffing on hand to give Four his lovely shape. A tapestry needle will facilitate your finishing touches, and while stitch markers are not essential, they are highly useful for keeping track of your stitches, especially during the more intricate parts of the pattern.

This pattern requires a range of knitting skills: casting on, joining in the round, purling, knitting front and back (kfb), making one right (m1r), making one left (m1l), slip slip knit (ssk), knitting two together (k2tog), three-needle bind-off, duplicate stitch, and Kitchener stitch. With these techniques, your skill set will grow, and you'll be well on your way to mastering this adorable design!
