Ohana

$5.00

Ohana means Family, and Family means nobody is left behind or forgotten. This beautiful sentiment is the heart of one of my all-time favorite movies, Lilo and Stitch. The film's whimsical character of Stitch, coupled with the spirited and adventurous Lilo, resonates deeply with many. That’s why I felt it was only fitting to pair this special Lilo’s Sidekick colorway with a design that embodies wishes and fantasy. In creating this shawl, I embarked on a meaningful journey through one of the most challenging periods of my life—navigating the complex emotions of grief.

The shawl begins with a soothing garter stitch and eyelet pattern that gently wraps around you like a warm embrace, allowing you to rest in its comforting stitches and soothe your soul. As I worked my way through the layers of grief, the design evolved into a wavy lace pattern. These waves symbolize the experience of moving through life while carrying the weight of a missing piece of my Ohana—someone who is gone but never truly forgotten. There are days when you feel a sense of normalcy, but then there are moments when a tug of sadness can pull you back into reflection.

May this shawl serve as a heartfelt reminder that your Ohana, whether near or far, is always present in spirit. Let it hold your family together and ensure that those who have left us are forever cherished in our hearts. This unique knitting pattern not only offers a creative outlet but also serves as a beautiful tribute to love, loss, and the importance of connection. Join me in knitting this shawl as a testament to the powerful bonds we share, ensuring that no one is ever truly forgotten.
