Old School
Introducing "Old School," a delightful knitting pattern inspired by a friend from my spinning group who shares captivating stories of her former career and the older technologies they used. This unique design features an intricate stitch pattern reminiscent of classic printer paper feeds, evoking nostalgia while providing modern knitters with a charming project. The heel utilizes a thoughtful continuation of the ribbing for a snug and comfortable fit.
The finished size options for "Old School" are Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L), measuring approximately 7 inches, 8 inches, and 9 inches around when unstretched, making it suitable for various foot sizes. It's perfect for knitters looking to create stylish and cozy socks that blend traditional techniques with contemporary flair.
For this project, we recommend using Tempting Ewe Ewe So Perfect Sock yarn, a lovely blend of 75% Merino wool and 25% Nylon, offering a total of 463 yards per 100g skein. Our sample was knit using the beautiful shade called "That’s My Favorite Color," but feel free to choose any color that speaks to you!
Gather your supplies, which include a set of 5 double-pointed needles or two circular needles in size 2 US (2.75 mm), or adjust to your preferred size to obtain the correct gauge. We recommend a gauge of 8 stitches per inch in stockinette stitch, knit in the round, to ensure a perfect fit.
Whether you’re looking for the perfect pair of socks to wear on chilly days or a thoughtful gift for a fellow knitting enthusiast, the "Old School" pattern is a must-try. Embrace the nostalgia of traditional crafting while enjoying the comfort of a well-fitted sock that features an eye-catching design. Happy knitting!
