One World Turkish-Style Socks
Note: This pattern features **Charts Only** for the intricate colorwork design. While many of my patterns include written instructions for those who prefer them, this particular design is exclusively charted.
In the summer of 2003, I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful family from Turkey. Captivated by their rich culture and tradition, especially in the art of sock knitting, I shared my passion for this craft with them. They kindly offered to search for authentic Turkish socks during their next visit to Turkey.
As a result, I now proudly own four pairs of genuine Turkish socks, and this knitting design draws inspiration from the structure of one pair that I received, incorporating its unique toe and heel. However, I’ve made it my own by integrating beautiful colorwork throughout the sock, creating a stunning piece for any knitter's collection.
Construction Details: These socks are knitted in the round using 5 double-pointed needles (with 4 needles holding stitches and 1 needle for working). The socks are constructed from the toe up, beginning with a wrapped cast-on technique. The heel features a striped band with a flap and does not include a gusset, making it a straightforward yet engaging project. The top of the sock is finished with decorative eyelets and an optional Bosnian Slip-Stitch Crochet edge for added flair. Additionally, a braided tassel can be included for a charming touch, although this is entirely optional.
Yarn Requirements:
- 1 / 1 / 2 / 2 / 2 skeins of Amethyst (Main Color - MC)
