You also have two fade options to choose from in this design: a method using equal width sections like my sample or one utilizing equal yardage sections—this option includes longer sections at the ends and a thinner section in the center.

**Size:** The finished shawl measures approximately 65 inches in wingspan and 25 inches in depth when blocked, leaving ample room for styling without the addition of tassels.

**Needles Required:** You will need US 7/4.5 mm needles with a 32-inch or longer cord to accommodate this project comfortably while allowing for the shawl's generous dimensions.

**Gauge:** For this pattern, the gauge is 18 stitches by 26 rows, resulting in a 4 x 4 inch square when wet blocked; when unblocked, the gauge is 18 stitches by 32 rows for the same dimensions. Achieving the correct gauge is essential for ensuring your finished shawl has the desired size and drape.

**Yardage Required:** To complete this beautiful worsted weight shawl, you will need a total of 5 skeins, which amounts to approximately 715 yards for the shawl itself and an additional 75 yards to create 3 tassels, if you choose to add them. For those opting for equal-width sections in your fade, you'll need approximately 63/173/240/170/65 yards per color across your 5 skein fade. Alternatively, if you prefer the equal yardage method, plan for about 145 yards per color to achieve a beautiful gradient effect.
