Padova Hat
This Christmas, I spent a magical time in Padova, where I strolled through the enchanting Prato della Valle, first under a mysterious fog and then amidst a serene snowfall. The hauntingly beautiful atmosphere of this place inspired me to create the Padova Hat—a stylish, seamless beanie crafted from super bulky yarn, featuring elegant, simple cable designs. Whether you're an experienced knitter or a newbie, this cozy hat is perfect for personal use or as a heartfelt gift during the chilly winter months.
MATERIALS
To knit the Padova Hat, you will need 100 grams (approximately 105 yards / 96 meters) of Super Bulky Yarn. The sample was made using one skein of Drops Andes in the lovely colorway Heather, which adds a soft, warming touch to your winter wardrobe.
NEEDLES
Use US 10.5 / 6.5mm circular needles or the size needed to obtain the correct gauge, ensuring your hat has the perfect fit and drape.
GAUGE
For this pattern, the gauge should be 4 inches (10 cm), which translates to 10 stitches and 15 rows in stockinette stitch. Achieving the right gauge is crucial for a comfortable, well-fitting beanie.
FINISHED DIMENSIONS
This pattern offers two sizes: Size 1, which measures 16 inches (41 cm) unstretched and is designed to fit a head circumference of 20-21 inches (51-54 cm); and Size 2, which measures 17.5 inches (45 cm) unstretched and fits heads measuring 22-24 inches (55-60 cm). This versatility ensures that you can craft a beautifully fitting hat for yourself or a loved one.
ADDITIONAL TOOLS
Along with your yarn and needles, you will also need 1 stitch marker to help keep track of your stitches. A pom-pom maker is optional for adding a fun and fluffy finishing touch to your hat!
Embrace the cozy, winter spirit while you knit the Padova Hat and let its elegant design remind you of the unique beauty of Padova. This easy-to-follow pattern is a great addition to your knitting repertoire and a wonderful way to enjoy crafting during the colder months. Happy knitting!
