At the start of 2020, no one could have predicted the incredible twists and turns that the year would present. The charming double numbers in the date seemed to promise an extraordinary year ahead. Many of us had grand plans for personal growth, adventures, and milestones, yet what we imagined and what actually unfolded turned out to be two very distinct realities. Inspired by this contrast, my Parallel Universe Socks serve as a creative reflection of our dreams versus our lived experiences. In the face of the challenges, though, I believe there are always glimmers of joy and examples of genuine human kindness that shine through.
This knitting pattern is designed to cater to your preferences, as it is available for both toe-up and cuff-down methods. Whether you're a fan of traditional techniques or enjoy the novelty of starting from the toe, simply choose the version you find most enjoyable to knit.
Materials Needed: For this project, you will require a pair of 2.25 mm/US 1 needles—either a long circular needle (at least 80-100 cm/40” for magic loop technique) or 2.25 mm/US 1 double-pointed needles (DPNs) to achieve the desired gauge.

Notions: Ensure you have stitch markers on hand to keep your progress organized, and a tapestry needle for weaving in the ends when your beautiful socks are all finished.
Gauge: For this pattern, aim for a gauge of 37 stitches and 49 rows over a 10 cm/4” section of stocking stitch in the round, once blocked. Achieving this gauge will help ensure that your socks fit comfortably.
