Suggested Yarns: For this project, we recommend using Aran thick/thin, Bulky, or Super-Bulky weight yarns. Opt for thick/thin yarns or textured boucle/loopy yarns that will effectively prevent stretching. Some fantastic choices include 3-6 balls of Debbie Bliss Soho, 2-3 hanks of Rio de la Plata, 3-6 hanks of Adrienne Vittadini Nadia (wool/alpaca blend), or 3-6 balls of Artful Yarns Reality. These yarns will provide the texture necessary for a successful knit!
IMPORTANT NOTE: This pattern does NOT perform well with smooth, worsted-weight yarns! To prevent any disappointment later on, we highly recommend sticking with textured or bulk yarns to achieve the best results. If you’d like to experiment, try holding two strands of yarn together as one to achieve a slightly thicker texture. That’s precisely what I did for the Goddess-sized version featured last, using a lovely raspberry/light magenta color that combined a cashmere-blend boucle with a delicate mohair ribbon for a stunning effect.
Needles: For the double-wrapped drop stitch technique, you’ll need Size 15 US/10mm straight needles, with a minimum length of 12"/30cm. Please note that circular needles are not recommended for this specific pattern to achieve the best drape and stitch definition.
