Peridotite Stole
About this Design: At the Geo Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, an intriguing display showcases the diverse types of rock that make up the province, alongside the ages of these ancient geological formations. Among them, the striking striation lines found in a chunk of Peridotite inspired my creative journey. This led me to explore stitch patterns that incorporate intricate cables and dynamic traveling stitches. Upon discovering the diamond shapes in this unique knit design, I realized I had found the perfect match for my inspiration, translating nature's beauty into a wearable work of art.
Yardage: To create your stunning stole, you will need 673 (1,125, 2,237) yards / 616 (1,029, 2,046) meters of wool sport weight yarn, which knits up to approximately 6 stitches per inch. This ensures a beautifully crafted texture that enhances the pattern’s intricate details.
Featured Yarn: This pattern is showcased using Bare Naked Wools ‘Cabécou Brillant’ (375 yards / 343 meters; 40% wool, 40% mohair, 20% silk; 4.06 oz / 115 grams). For the size Small Stole, three skeins in the luxurious colorway Poivre was selected for its elegant drape and sheen.
