Introducing Piona, a stunning reversible lace shawl that showcases its decorative beauty on both sides. Yarn – You can choose any yarn weight for this project. My personal favorites are lightweight fingering yarns, which create airy shawls perfect for warmer seasons. However, if you prefer a cozier wrap for winter, heavier yarn weights work beautifully as well. For the ombre variation, I used 656 yards (approximately 600 meters) of Kokonki yarn on US size 2 ½ (3.0mm) needles, completing a total of 15 repeats. This version measures an impressive 63x25 inches (160x63 cm). Meanwhile, the vibrant yellow shawl was crafted in Torra from Liloppi, also using US size 2 ½ (3.0mm) needles, with 17 repeats resulting in a generous size of 77x31 inches (195x79 cm).
Needles – The choice of needle size is flexible and should correspond to the weight of the yarn you choose for your project. Select needles that suit the yarn to achieve the best drape and stitch definition.
Gauge – While gauge is not critical for this pattern, it will depend on the yarn and needles you opt for while knitting. Experimenting with gauge may help you achieve the desired fabric feel and look.
