Pippin Poncho

In 1977, during my memorable senior year of high school, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Pan American Gymnastics Cup in New York City, NY, alongside a small group of enthusiastic gymnasts, all thanks to our dedicated coach, Carol Nygaard. With a friend living nearby, we secured a cozy place to stay, which made our trip even more special. While the main focus was gymnastics and exploring the vibrant sights of NYC, the chance to experience a Broadway show felt like a far-off dream, especially growing up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To our delight, we had the chance to attend the musical Pippin on Broadway! This dazzling production quickly became a colossal success, and I had the pleasure of performing with a troupe called MagicToDo, which consisted of 10 guys and 10 girls. We traveled throughout the city, showcasing our talent at halftime shows, various events, and even nursing homes, bringing joy to countless audiences. The iconic theme song from Pippin has held a special place in my heart for all these years, serving as a delightful reminder of that incredible time in my life. When I was brainstorming for a name for my latest openwork poncho design, I instantly thought of the vibrant 1970s and the enchanting musical Pippin; it felt like the perfect fit. This poncho captures the spirit of creativity and artistry, reminiscent of the energy I felt while performing onstage. If you're looking for a unique and stylish knitting project that pays homage to this classic Broadway experience, this Pippin-inspired openwork poncho is perfect for you. Whether you're making it for yourself or as a thoughtful gift, it’s sure to delight and inspire! Discover the joy of knitting while celebrating this iconic musical with a pattern that combines elegance and nostalgia.
