Introducing a Beautifully Lacy Sideways Shawl(ette)
A Perfect Companion to Galathea and Agrippina
This stunning sideways shawl is specially designed to utilize those precious single skeins of sock yarn that deserve to shine but aren't destined to become socks. For this unique knitting project, you will need 2 skeins of yarn. If you happen to have an extra luxurious and squishy skein, consider letting it take center stage in a plain stockinette section, elegantly framed by a darker border for a sophisticated touch.
- Size: 180 cm x 55 cm when blocked (it may be just a smidgen smaller now)
- Knit Technique: Crafted side-to-side with both borders integrated (intarsia)
- Pattern Type: This pattern is charted for easy navigation
- Knit Method: Following the Baktus principle, you will knit from one end to the other. Begin decreases once you’ve used up half of your yarn—this can be either the border yarn or the center yarn, depending on which runs out first!
- Stitch Pattern: Features Barbara Walker's exquisite Peri’s Parasol stitch pattern (previously used in my scarflette as well)
-
For a personalized look, the center can be knitted in either plain stockinette or garter stitch, providing options beyond the meshy diagonal pattern.
