Introducing a completely reversible sock knitting pattern designed with a cozy garter stitch sole! This beautiful sock is worked from the cuff down in the round using 2.25mm needles. Interestingly, this unique pattern was discovered by accident during a swatching session. I found myself gravitating towards the wrong side of the fabric, which inspired the creation of the deliciously squishy garter stitch sole. This thoughtful design allows the socks to be worn either way, perfect for those who enjoy versatility in their knitted garments.

YARN

The sample used for these socks is Violet Green Solemate (4ply weight, 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon, 100g/400m/436yds) in the lovely shade of Moss. Please note that this yarn has been discontinued, but a fantastic substitute would be Cascade Heritage Solids, which features the same 4ply weight and fiber content (75% superwash wool, 25% nylon, 100g/400m/436yds), providing both quality and availability.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

For this project, you will need a set of 2.25mm (UK 13/US 1) double-pointed needles (DPNs) or a 2.25mm (UK 13/US 1) circular needle, 80cm long, along with a stitch marker to help keep track of your rounds.

TENSION

It’s important to note that the tension for this pattern is 40 stitches and 47 rounds to achieve a 10x10cm (4x4in) square over the pattern using 2.25mm (UK 13/US 1) needles. Proper tension is crucial for ensuring that your finished socks fit perfectly and showcase the intricate design.
