Pride and Paths

Finding ourselves is a beautiful journey, often filled with twists and turns. Sometimes, the path to self-awareness is straightforward, while at other times it may meander. Reflecting on his evolution, Ricky Martin famously said, “Just go within and do not lie to yourself.” Inspired by this sentiment, I set out to create a unique knitting pattern that embodies the spirit of Pride. With a stunning, single gradient 100 gm cake of Love Is Love yarn by Knit Circus, I envisioned a small shawl that beautifully expresses creativity and personal exploration. After diving into one of my classic “Sit-N-Spin” brainstorming sessions, I decided that a shawl would be the perfect medium for this project. With 410 yards of yarn, I aimed for a design that balances straightforward Stockinette stitches with the intricate zig-zag lace, representing life’s direct paths and complex choices. This quick-to-knit shawl serves as a reflection on the journeys we take—inviting us to ponder whether our choices are true to our authentic selves and what roads we wish to travel moving forward.
