Promises in the Dark
My original vision and inspiration for the Promises in the Dark shawl design stemmed from the beauty of architectural steel frameworks. However, as I began charting a few pattern repeats, that geometrical structure I had in mind unexpectedly transformed into a stunning bouquet of flowers! Needless to say, I immediately fell head over heels in LOVE with this enchanting design! I hope you enjoy creating and wearing it as much as I do!
Designed for knitters of all skill levels, the Promises in the Dark shawl is a triangular-shaped accessory that is knit from the top edge down. The elegant pattern is crafted using the mosaic knitting technique, allowing you to work with just one color per row for an intricate yet manageable project. This means you can achieve a visually rich design without the complexities of traditional colorwork!
GAUGE: 21 stitches x 44 rows = 4 x 4” / 10 x 10 cm, using larger-sized needles while working on Chart 2 of the mosaic pattern, blocked.
TECHNIQUES: This pattern incorporates essential knitting techniques, including basic chart reading, mosaic color-work, slipping stitches, I-cord edges, and an Icelandic bind-off. Each technique is beginner-friendly, making it a perfect project for knitters looking to expand their skills while creating a beautiful shawl.
Whether you’re planning to wear it on a chilly evening or gifting it to a loved one, the Promises in the Dark shawl is sure to become a cherished piece in your collection.
