Pumpkin No6
Welcome to our delightful knitting pattern for creating charming pumpkins in the round! This pattern provides you with detailed written instructions and easy-to-understand charts for crafting both small and medium-sized pumpkins. Don't worry if you're not familiar with reading charts; the pattern is straightforward enough to follow along without them.
The size of your finished pumpkins will vary depending on your choice of yarn, knitting tension, and the density of your filling. This flexibility allows you to personalize your pumpkins to fit your style and preferences.
Gauge: 27 stitches and 40 rows = 10 cm (in pattern)
Yarn: You'll need between 33 to 84 meters (36 to 92 yards) of any DK-weight yarn of your choice. For the pumpkin stems, approximately 2 meters of a contrasting color yarn will give the perfect accent.
Needles: You can use double pointed or circular needles in sizes 3 mm to 3.25 mm for best results.
Size of the resulting pumpkins and yarn requirements:
- Small Pumpkin: Diameter ~ 8 cm, using about 11 grams of yarn (33 meters)
- Medium Pumpkin: Diameter ~ 10.5 cm, using approximately 28 grams of yarn (84 meters)
Required skills: This pattern is designed for knitters who are comfortable with basic techniques such as casting on, knitting, purling, as well as more advanced skills including increases, decreases, cables, and working in the round (including small diameter). If you feel confident with these techniques, you’re ready to start your pumpkin project!
You will also need: A wool needle for sewing up, suitable toy filling for stuffing, and a cable needle for the cable stitch sections. Having these tools handy will ensure a smooth knitting process and a beautiful finish to your pumpkins.
