Questa
Introducing the stunning Questa sideways shawlette, a beautifully crafted design perfect for showcasing your favorite yarn while using up most of your skein. This unique shawlette is knit in a sideways manner: begin by weighing your yarn at the start, then work your increases until you reach slightly less than halfway through your yarn supply. After that, seamlessly transition into the decreasing section. The inspiration behind this charming piece comes from Questa, a captivating spot nestled in the mountains of New Mexico, making it a perfect homage to nature's beauty.
Finished Size: 17x66” once gently wet blocked, offering an elegant drape that can complement any outfit.
Yarn: For this project, we recommend Dragonfly Fibers Djinni, which consists of 80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, and 10% Nylon, totaling 420 yards per 4 ounces. The sample was beautifully knit in the colorway Persephone, but feel free to choose any color that inspires you!
Needles: You'll need a 24” circular needle in size 6 US (4.00 mm) or another size that helps you achieve the right gauge. Don’t hesitate to experiment!
Gauge: The gauge for this pattern is 18 stitches and 28 rows per 4 inches in wet-blocked stockinette. While gauge is not critical for this beautifully flowing shawlette, be aware that it will influence the overall drape and the amount of yarn utilized, so consider this as you knit.
This pattern is wonderfully flexible—it can be knit at any gauge with virtually any yarn! Just remember to weigh your yarn before beginning. Simply work your increases to slightly under halfway through your total yarn weight, and then transition into the decreasing phase. It’s as easy as weighing your yarn!
Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or a curious beginner, Questa will inspire creativity and provide a delightful challenge. Enjoy the process and embrace the art of knitting with this lovely shawlette pattern!
