Quinn Beanie
SKILL LEVEL: Advanced Beginner
SKILLS USED: This fun and cozy beanie pattern incorporates essential knitting techniques such as casting on, knitting in the round, and utilizing both knit and purl stitches. You'll also learn how to knit or purl two stitches together! For novice knitters, we've provided links to helpful tutorials to aid you in mastering these techniques.
NEEDLES: You'll need two sizes of needles for this pattern: a set of 7mm (10.75 US) circular needles or five double-pointed needles, as well as a set of 6mm (10 US) circular needles or five double-pointed needles. If you're new to knitting in the round, this pattern is a great way to practice!
YARN: The original design uses 3 skeins of Drops Big Merino yarn (82 yards/75 meters per 50g), knitting with two strands together for added warmth and texture. Alternatively, feel free to substitute with any worsted or aran weight yarn while knitting with two strands, or opt for a bulky or chunky weight yarn knitting with just one strand for a quicker project.
GAUGE: For this pattern, you'll want to achieve a stockinette gauge of 11.5 stitches per 10 cm using the 7mm needles. Achieving the correct gauge is crucial for ensuring that your beanie fits perfectly!
THE PATTERN INCLUDES:
- A full description for crafting a size M adult beanie, perfect for both men and women.
- A reference table that outlines necessary changes for knitting the beanie in other sizes, accommodating everyone in the family!
- A detailed photo tutorial showcasing each technique used, complete with stitch counts at the end of each increase and decrease round for clarity.
