Ravens in Snow Fingerless Mitts
Corvids, the fascinating family of birds, are my absolute favorite feathered companions. While it’s challenging to pick a single favorite among these intelligent creatures, I cherish the memories of Green Jays I spotted during my visit to Bentsen-Rio Grande in Texas while pursuing my Zoology degree. Additionally, I love observing the charming crow family that enjoys feasting on our delicious figs. However, ravens, with their striking simplicity and impressive intellect, hold a particularly special place in my heart. These majestic birds are not only captivating in nature but also serve as a rich source of inspiration in mythology. They feature prominently in Norse myth, represented by Odin's ravens, Hugin and Munin, which symbolize Thought and Memory. Ravens are also significant figures in the myths of various North American Indigenous cultures, where they often embody creation and transformation. For this knitting project inspired by the spirit of corvids, you will need Yarn: Main Color (MC) Knit Picks Palette, a luxurious 100% Peruvian Highland Wool yarn with a generous 231 yards per 50 grams, in the beautiful Oyster shade; and Contrast Color (CC) Knit Picks Palette in the stunning Mineral hue, also 100% Peruvian Highland Wool, with the same yardage specifications. To create your masterpiece, gather your knitting needles: a US 4 / 3.5mm for the cast-on, followed by a US 1.5 / 2.5mm or another size that helps you achieve your desired gauge, and finally a US 1 / 2.25mm needle.
