Introducing our latest afghan design, aptly named "Evolution," inspired by the original Curve of Pursuit. This unique piece marks our first venture into a design that embraces artistic freedom rather than adhering strictly to sound geometric principles. Its innovative use of pliable knitting techniques allows for beautiful distortion, giving rise to the captivating zig-zag swirl pattern that sets this afghan apart.
Contrary to what it may seem, creating this stunning afghan is much easier than it looks! The entire piece is worked in one continuous section, using one color at a time. With a manageable maximum of around one hundred stitches on your needles, you will find the process both enjoyable and straightforward. Plus, there's only a minimal amount of stitching required upon completion, making it beginner-friendly.
The afghan showcased in the photos was crafted using soft Double Knitting (DK) yarns and boasts a generous measurement of approximately 140 cm (55”) across. However, our comprehensive instruction booklet empowers you to choose any yarn you prefer, allowing you to customize the size of your creation to suit your needs. Feel free to get creative – you can even opt to make a smaller version as a charming pillow! Additionally, the booklet features several design variations, incorporating 2, 4, or 8 colors and a variety of enchanting swirls and zig-zags.
This delightful afghan pattern, designed by the talented mathekniticians Pat Ashforth and Steve Plummer, is not just a knitting project; it's a celebration of creativity and innovation in knitting. Explore the endless possibilities and let your imagination run wild as you embark on this exciting knitting journey!
