Yarn Requirements:
For the main color (MC), you will need approximately 700 yards (640 meters) of fingering weight yarn. For the contrast color (CC), approximately 360 yards (330 meters) of fingering weight yarn is required. Please note that these amounts encompass the total needed for the project, and specific stripe amounts are detailed in the Notes section of the pattern. We recommend using the stunning Dimond Laine Elmer Fingering yarn, which boasts a luxurious blend of 80% Merino and 20% Cashmere (410 yards / 100 grams). For the sample, we used 2 skeins in the vibrant colorway Cobalt (MC) and 1 skein in the elegant colorway Candlestick (CC).
Gauge:
To achieve the desired result, aim for a gauge of 14 stitches and 32 rows per 4 inches (10 cm) in garter stitch after blocking.
Tools Needed:
You will need size 6 (4.0 mm) 40” (100 cm) circular needles, or whatever size is needed to meet the gauge. Additionally, have 1 stitch marker and a tapestry needle on hand to complete your beautifully knit Scoria Shawl.
Finished Measurements:
Once completed, the Scoria Shawl measures approximately 96 inches (245 cm) in length and 33 inches (84 cm) in height at its deepest point. This generous size makes it perfect for draping over your shoulders or using as a cozy wrap.
