Slouch in Motion
Introducing 'Slouch in Motion,' my first published hand knitting pattern, carefully crafted during the inaugural PEKAPEKA design course. This unique and stylish REVERSIBLE slouch beanie is designed to be knitted in the round, making it an engaging project for knitters of various skill levels. The pattern begins at the brim and features a delightful waves and eyelet design that extends all the way to the crown of the hat.
The 'Slouch in Motion' pattern includes detailed instructions for both 8ply/DK and 10ply/Worsted weight yarns, accommodating a range of preferences and styles. With a total of 7 sizes available, this versatile beanie is perfect for everyone, from little ones to adults.
To successfully complete this pattern, you should be comfortable working small circumferences in the round and familiar with techniques such as yarn overs (YO) and purl two together (p2tog). This makes the 'Slouch in Motion' beanie an excellent way to refine your knitting skills while creating a fashionable accessory.
Tension is key to achieving the best results: for 8ply yarn, the gauge is 22 stitches and 30 rows equal to 10cm on 4.0mm needles when working in stocking stitch in the round. You will need just 1 skein (100g) of 8ply/DK weight yarn (approximately 220m) for any size hat. For 10ply yarn, the gauge is slightly different at 19 stitches and 25 rows equal to 10cm on 5.0mm needles. Sizes up to Small Adult (55cm circumference) require under 1 skein (for larger sizes, you should allow up to 180m or 120g of yarn).
This knitting pattern is provided as two convenient PDF downloads. One version is optimized for viewing on your tablet, laptop, or iPad, making it easy for you to follow along with the instructions wherever you are. Whether you’re making this hat for yourself or as a thoughtful gift, 'Slouch in Motion' is sure to become a go-to project in your knitting repertoire.
