Smooriken Cardigan
When our children were small, we cherished bedtime moments filled with playful games. One of our favorites was blowing kisses into the air, allowing our little ones to ‘catch’ these airborne tokens of affection and place them under their pillows, creating a sense of safety and warmth at night. This heartwarming tradition inspired my Smooriken beanie and mittens pattern, but I’ve long envisioned expanding this concept into a versatile cardigan. The name “Smooriken” translates to “kiss” or “to be kissed” in Shetland dialect, capturing the essence of affection and comfort in our designs. For this cardigan, I've chosen two striking shades from Jamieson’s of Shetland Double Knitting yarn, which beautifully complement each other while providing both warmth and style. I am also excited to announce that I am planning to create a matching sweater version of this delightful design! Ideal for snuggling up on chilly evenings, the Smooriken cardigan celebrates both playfulness and practicality, making it a wonderful addition to any knitting enthusiast's wardrobe.
