Majestically perched overlooking Loch Ness, the stunning ruins of Urquhart Castle create an enchanting backdrop that has captured my heart on numerous visits—five in total over the years. My first experience there was years ago, long before the modern visitor center was built and the influx of tourists began to stir the tranquil atmosphere of this historical site. Despite its rising popularity, Urquhart Castle remains a special sanctuary for me, embodying the beauty of Scotland’s rich history and natural landscapes.

During one of my memorable trips, I found the perfect setting to showcase my knitting. The photo of my shawl beautifully reflects the harmonious blend of my two greatest passions—knitting and the breathtaking scenery of Scotland. I decided to name this pattern “Smooth as a Single Malt” because, much like Scotland and its famed whiskey, knitting and the Highland spirit are intricately intertwined.
