Measurements: The finished circumference of the hat measures 45 (50, 55) cm / 17.5 (19.5, 21.5)” with a height of 21 (21.5, 22) cm / 8.25 (8.5, 8.75)”. The matching cowl features a finished circumference of 50 (60, 70) cm / 19.5 (23.5, 27.5)” and a uniform height of 19.5 cm / 7.5”. Ideal for layering on chilly days!
Yarn Details: This pattern uses Rico Essentials Soft Merino Aran, a luxurious yarn that offers both comfort and warmth. Each 50 g ball contains 100 m of yarn, made of 100% wool. For the Hat: Main Color (shown in Cream 06) requires 1 (1, 2) balls, and Contrast Color (shown in Brick Red) requires 1 (1, 1) ball. For the Cowl: Main Color (Cream 06) requires 1 (1, 2) balls, and Contrast Color (Brick Red) requires 1 (1, 2) balls.
Gauge: Achieve a perfect fit with a gauge of 20 stitches and 22 rounds = 10 cm / 4” in colorwork, knit in the round on larger needles, after blocking.
Recommended Needles: Use a 5 mm / US 8 circular needle (or size required to obtain correct gauge), with a 60 cm / 24” length. Double-pointed needles or a longer circular needle can be used for the magic loop method if preferred. Additionally, have a 4.5 mm / US 7 circular needle on hand, also with a 60 cm / 24” length, or a needle that is 1-2 sizes smaller than your main needle. This combination will ensure your stitches stay even and the project looks polished.
