Social Bobble
Bobbles can truly transform a simple shawl into a captivating accessory that is both interesting and exciting to wear. Plus, they are fun and rewarding to knit! In this pattern, you’ll have the opportunity to choose between a lovely shawl knit in garter stitch or stockinette stitch, featuring eye-catching stripes adorned with delightful bobbles and finishing off with a unique bobble bind-off. The Social Bobble Shawl requires just one skein of 4-ply/fingering yarn for the main color, alongside approximately 85 meters of yarn specifically for the bobbles.
If you're a fan of playful accessories, don’t forget to check out the sister design, the Betasseled Shawl, which features charming tassels! Why not indulge your creativity and knit one of each shawl for a versatile accessory collection?
Yarn Requirements:
Main Color: You will need 380-400 meters of 4-ply wool yarn, roughly 420 meters per 100 grams. The sample shawl was knit using SkeinQueen Crush merino/nylon yarn in the color Snow Field for the bobble version and Salvage for the tassel version. Contrast Color: Additionally, for the contrast color, use AlpacaSilk with 140 meters per 25 grams. Approximately 15 grams (or around 85 meters) of this will be needed for the project.
Needles and Gauge: Prepare to knit with 3.75 mm (US 5) needles. For the ideal gauge, you’ll want to achieve 20-21 stitches over 10 cm in blocked garter stitch and 28 stitches over 10 cm in unblocked stockinette stitch.
Notions You'll Need: Be sure to have 2 stitch markers on hand, including one locking marker. A pompom maker with a diameter of 5 cm (2 inches) is also recommended for the perfect finish.
Measurements After Blocking: The garter stitch version of the Social Bobble Shawl features an impressive wingspan of 170 cm and a depth of 52 cm, making it a stunning and functional piece that can elevate any outfit.
By knitting the Social Bobble Shawl, you’ll not only enhance your knitting skills but also create a beautiful, handcrafted item to cherish or gift. Enjoy the engaging process of creating bobbles and stripes while crafting this exquisite shawl!
