South End Knitter's Hat
This adult large-size knitting pattern is designed to fit a head circumference of 24"-26", ensuring a comfortable and stylish fit! For those looking for something more standard, the medium size is perfect for most adults.
**Errata Notice:** As you prepare to dive into this project, please note a correction on the gauge: the correct gauge should read 20 stitches and 30 rows = 4” (10 cm) over Stockinette stitch using smaller needles. Additionally, the 2X2 ribbing should measure approximately 6 stitches and 30 rows = 1" unstretched. A single 12-stitch cable repeat (utilizing larger needles) measures about 1 7/8” wide.
**Sizes Available:** Small (ideal for babies to small children), Medium (perfect for large children to small adults), and Large (designed for large adults). Perfect for crafting gifts or personal use!
**BEFORE YOU START**
**Yarn Details:** For this project, I used Berroco Ultra Alpaca Worsted / 10 ply yarn (9 wpi), which offers a luxurious blend of fibers. You’ll need approximately 215 yards (197 meters) per 100 grams (3.53 ounces), consisting of 50% Super Fine Alpaca and 50% Peruvian Highland Wool. If you are making the smaller sizes, one hank will suffice. A small size requires about 150 yards, the medium size needs approximately 175 yards, while the large size requires around 250 yards of any worsted weight yarn to complete the project.
**Needle Requirements:** You will need US 7 and 8 (4.5 - 5mm) 16-inch circular needles, as well as a US 7 (4.5mm) set of double-pointed needles for finishing touches.
**Essential Notions:** Don’t forget to gather stitch markers, a cable needle, and your yarn! These tools will help ensure your knitting experience is smooth and enjoyable.
