Soviet Hat
During my visit to Warsaw, I was truly captivated by the austere beauty of the Soviet-era buildings. Their striking geometric forms inspired the design of this unique hat.
This hat is crafted using 100 grams of Aran yarn, showcasing an exploration of intricate cable patterns, making it exceptionally warm and cozy for the winter months. The pattern includes full charts and written instructions, plus an option to create a longer brim for added warmth and style.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate knitter
MATERIALS: You will need 100 grams (approximately 176 yards or 160 meters) of yarn, which corresponds to 2 skeins of Studio Donegal Aran Tweed or a similar Aran weight yarn for this project.
NEEDLES: Use US 7 (4.5 mm) needles or the size necessary to achieve the correct gauge. Additionally, a cable needle, a stitch marker, and a pom pom maker (optional) will help you complete this beautiful hat.
GAUGE: For this pattern, your gauge should measure 4 inches (10 cm) = 16 stitches by 22 rows in the specified cable pattern.
FINISHED DIMENSIONS: The finished hat has a circumference of 51 cm (20 inches), making it a perfect fit for your winter wardrobe.
This stylish winter hat not only keeps you warm but also offers a fashionable accessory that beautifully reflects the inspiration drawn from architectural elegance. Grab your needles and yarn, and let's get started on creating a piece that is as unique as the city that inspired it!
