Socks are my favorite knitting project! After many years of crafting and teaching the art of sock making, I'm excited to share my beloved basic toe-up, reinforced heel flap sock recipe with you. This pattern is designed to be worked in a heavy fingering weight yarn, knitted tighter than the suggested gauge to ensure durability and longevity—perfect for everyday wear!

This versatile sock pattern can be knitted using the magic loop technique or on two circular needles, making it accessible for knitters of all skill levels. The sizes provided correspond to US shoe sizes, allowing you to easily select the perfect fit. To achieve a snug and comfortable fit, these socks are crafted with negative ease; I recommend choosing a size that has finished measurements approximately ½ to 1 inch smaller than your actual foot measurement.

The pattern includes instructions for three sizes, accommodating up to 10 different shoe sizes, suitable for both men's and women's footwear. You can also adjust the foot length and leg length to suit your preferences, allowing for a personalized fit. One of the great advantages of toe-up sock knitting is that you can try them on as you go, so I encourage you to do so frequently to ensure the perfect fit!

To get started, you will need approximately 100 grams of sock yarn. Keep in mind that if you choose to knit a longer sock leg, you may require additional yardage. Dive into the joys of sock knitting with this easy-to-follow pattern, and enjoy the satisfaction of creating your very own comfortable and stylish socks!
