Stepping Stones Shawl
Introducing an elegantly designed shawl featuring a distinctive chain of large eyelets along its spine, which not only shapes the garment but also adds a spectacular visual detail against the smooth stockinette background. The shawl is enhanced with a beautifully crafted wave stitch trim that softens the bold design, making it a perfect accessory for both casual and formal wear.
Designer: Katya Frankel
Finished Size: This stunning shawl measures 150 cm / 55" in width and 68.5 cm / 27" in depth, making it an ideal wrap for any season.
Yarn Requirements: To create this exquisite piece, you will need Manos del Uruguay Silk Blend yarn, which is composed of 70% merino extrafine wool and 30% silk. You will need 4 skeins of color #3064 pewter. The yarn is distributed by Fairmount Fibers and each skein provides approximately 150 yards (137 meters) in 1¾ oz (50 g). For substitutes, look for around 540 meters (590 yards) of DK weight yarn that can achieve the specified tension.
Needles: For this project, you’ll need sizes 7 (4.5 mm) and 8 (5 mm) circular needles, preferably 40 inches in length. Adjust the needle sizes as required to obtain the correct gauge and ensure the best results.
Notions: Be sure to have stitch markers (m) and a tapestry needle on hand to assist with this pattern.
Gauge: Achieve a gauge of 17 stitches and 28 rows equals 4 inches in stockinette stitch using the smaller needle, after blocking. Maintaining the correct gauge is crucial for the final appearance and fit of your shawl.
